Training-workshop 7-11-2017 (Mounjiz, Akkar) Marketing​ strategy and project management

A training workshop on development and management of rural projects was conducted in the village of Mounjiz in Akkar on 7-11-2017. This training was organized by the Environmental and Energy Economics (EEE) program with the support of the Land and Natural Resources (LNR) program at the Institute of the Environment, University of Balamand.

This event came within the framework of the EU funded project “Assisting Reforestation and forest Development Activities in partnership with local Communities” (ARDAC). A total of 23 participants attended the training including 9 women and 14 men mainly from the local community of Mounjiz.

The training was provided by Mr. Samir Hatem, Ms. Sarah Hani and Ms. Thea Khoury from arcenciel, a non-profit Lebanese NGO.

During the first session, Mr. Hatem and Ms. Hani provided trainees with an introduction on design, execution, management and monitoring of local and rural development projects. During the second session, Ms. Khoury focused on marketing strategies and highlighted main components to be considered when implementing eco-tourism projects.

Additionally, the training included a session where input was collected from trainees on opportunities and challenges potentially arising from implementation of projects on ecotourism and rural tourism in Mounjiz. This session was moderated by Ms. Maria Bou Nassar and Mr. Mike Malek from the EEE.
